Best Buy wanted to create a brand video that resonated with Gen Z and across all the social channels. The video needed to highlight product from scooters to computers to show off how Best Buy has all the tech for your on and off campus needs.

Executed with eye catching transitions, great talent and styling this one performed better than all past brand anthem videos during the Back to School season.

Best Buy's Instagram account was non existent in 2015 and late to the game in gaining followers quickly. Untouched and no vendor funding to promote the brand, we utilized Instagram as an only organic tool to build brand love and followers. More importantly we used it as a way to start conversations about new creative approaches to the work across all social media channels.

The posts are reposted organically on Facebook and Twitter. They are the top performing organic posts and have garnered increased  vendor funding.

Strategy: Engage tech fans earlier in the purchase journey leading with passion for tech, not product.

Launched, developed and led a team to create an ownable visual voice for Best Buy on Instagram. Goal was to celebrate what tech fans care about most - the tech itself.

Challenge C9 Champion reinvented it’s product line to deliver on guests expectations but it still  needed to prove itself as a performance brand and a credible alternative to higher priced brands.

Solution Prove It. Challenged Accepted. was created as the strategic approach to deepen engagement, improve confidence, and inspire guests to try C9 Champion. Prove the performance of C9 technology by showcasing the collection within artful and surreal environments - all inspired by product features, endurance and durability. Performance was reimagined in abstract worlds that allow anyone to achieve their fitness goals anywhere through a unique and ownable branded environment.

Target’s guest had a negative perception of the Target’s Plus-size offerings. In the past, Target hasn’t provided a destination for stylish, on-trend, affordable apparel in plus sizes. 

Solution Ava & Viv isn’t just another Plus line, it is Target’s newest style brand. I created a multi channel approach that went beyond the original client request for a simple look book. To accomplish Target’s goal of standing for style, I elevated and created a visual language that played off the aesthetics of the Ava & Viv logo and applied this to the graphics and photo style.

Insights also told us that shoppers crave relatable experiences so we utilized bloggers and talent with a high presence in the market to model the line.

Results The response from Target’s media partners and guests at the launch of the brand was impressive. The entire look book was featured on multiple sites including Refinery 29 and WWD. Target saw a 40% increase in Plus sales the day the look book was released and the #AVAandViv garnered 2,000 mentions, driving 30 million impressions.

Target needed to regain the confidence of the millennial mom, who didn’t view Target as the best value for summer items compared to the dollar stores and other discount retailers.

We aimed to make summer fun and easy–at a great price–with a cohesive summer campaign that stretched across channels and categories.

Summer A-Go-Go created an atmosphere of summer fun in Target’s mini-Seasonal area while offering value and convenience.

We also leveraged our designer partnership with Jeff Canham to create a unique font for the campaign.

The mission of Spark Learning is to improve the lives of children with autism, Asperger's, ADHD, PDD, and other special needs.

As creative director for Spark Learning, I created and developed Spark Learning’s brand identity: naming, mission statement, logo/icon development and all marketing collateral.

I also developed follow-up integrated marketing plan utilizing web/mobile, social media, trade show strategy, digital advertising and promotions to continue raising awareness and supporting growth.

The brand for Spark was created on the basis of two insights. One, parents want a place that they can take their children that will provide the services they need but are also looking for a little bit of fun. Two, children with developmental disorders gravitate towards iconography. These insights shaped my approach in developing the brand because every child deserves a little spark.

Target wanted to capitalize on the growing audience in social media and build brand love around all things Halloween.

To break thru the already cluttered environment, I created unique ideas for Target to share with guests.

The storage and organization category at Target was seeking to capture the guest’s attention and encourage shopping.

We created an approach utilizing Pinterest to elevate and celebrate our best products in the department that inspired the guest to make it their own and see the potential in the products.

Pinterest played a key role in Target's approach to inspiring and engaging the guest during the holiday season. We targeted key areas such as food, gifts for her, gifts for him, and of course toys to create over 400 pins for the holiday season. These posts outperformed previous Pinterest benchmarks in guest engagement with an increase of sales of 10% over previous posts and an 11% increase in follower growth.

Targetisms was created as a self directed project to embrace the unmistakable language and habits of being a Target team member. From coffee statuses to calendar stalking, going on a Target Run to Princess Parking, these Targetisms are intertwined into the fabric of the fun and inclusive culture at Target headquarters. 

Taking the most endearing acronyms, popular catch phrases and addictive habits a set of stickers, coffee mugs, cube signs and great team member cards were developed to bring these Targetisms to life.

Target’s partnership with Jeff Canham, surfer and sign painter, was the perfect combination to tap into the guest’s desire for a carefree summer.

Inspired by Jeff’s surf background and his art work, I designed this hang tag to celebrate the uniqueness and exclusivity of the Jeff Canham partnership with the goal to reinforce the guest’s interest in the product and complement Target’s already existing apparel line for the teen and early 20’s guest.

Creating a GiftCard for Target is similar to creating a mini billboard. The challenge is to capture the theme in a unique way that resonates with the guest immediately. My concept pile is large as it's easy to have fun generating ideas.

My contribution has ranged from concept to illustration and I've won a few awards along the way!
